Enclosed Dog Parks in the City of SLO (as of 1/22/25)

Location: Laguna Lake Park

Size: About 3 acres

Status: Final Design approved by Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC; August, 2023); Funding for basic elements approved by City Council in 2024; construction work started in late 2024; construction completion estimate: March, 2025. Friends is working with Pacific Beach High School to build agility/obstacle equipment to be donated to the City. Four elements for each small and big dog areas completed to date (weave poles, A-frame, dog walk, 3-tier platform). More elements planned. Grand Opening expected to be in mid-late March.

Next step: Grand Opening in mid-late March.

Proposed Amenities: Full perimeter fencing; interior fencing to create two separate areas for small dogs and large dogs; all-weather surfaces (grass, mulch/wood chips, decomposed granite); shading (built structures and trees); water stations; benches; tables; grading to improve drainage; entry and walkways to be ADA compliant. Existing amenities include a bathroom and parking lot. Friends will be donating agility/obstacle equipment amenities.
